1972 Datsun 240Z

1972 Datsun 240Z

Owner: Shawn Bassett, Apopka, FL
Builder: Shawn Bassett, Apopka, FL

Engine/Drivetrain: Salvaged LS3, torn-down and worked-over, 415hp, salvaged Tremec T56 Transmission. Weighs 2600 lbs., BC Forged wheels with Toyo Proxes RR tires.

Highlights: The original vehicle was a basket-case sourced from an online ad out of Miami. It was torn down to create negative molds for the carbon fiber body, widened 12 inches. All work was done in his 750 sq. ft pole barn. A full custom, every panel has been hand-molded during its 4.5-year one-man build, which was built on a budget. It also has a complete tubular structure and frame, FIA spec, “no compromises” on major structural area — a GT Time Attack inspiration.
