1932 Ford Tudor “5th Avenue Special”

1932 Ford Tudor “5th Avenue Special”

Owner: Nathan Powell, Columbiana, AL
Builder: Goolsby Customs, Hueytown, AL

Paint: BASF, Celadon Mist with Cumberland Green and Black

Painted by: Goolsby Customs

Engine/Drivetrain: Small black Chevy with Bowler 4L60E transmission, fully polished ram horns, air cleaner themed from a ’63 Corvette, 9-inch Ford end, GearFX 3.70:1 gears in a Strange rear axle. Wheelsmith billet Artillery wheels with 15” in front and 17” in rear. Alan Johnson of Johnson’s Hot Rod Shop fabricated the chassis with RideTech coilovers in the rear.

Highlights: The all-original Henry Ford body was in great shape upon receipt, but was cleaned, sharpened and refined. There is a ’40s art deco theme carried throughout the car, including the fabric and brightwork, creating a “Gentlemen’s Hot Rod.” The biggest challenge was fitment of the body panels and gapping the car. Advanced Plating did the brightwork, Speed and Design Interior, 1960 Lincoln NOS fabric with Moore & Giles leather. A period-correct top is supported with exposed redwood framing on the interior, aviation carpeting, Goolsby Edition Lokar hardware and gauge cluster, Classic Instruments gauges and Vintage Air.
